23 and 20 days

23 days from the first race of my summer.
It's just before bedtime at 10:30ish. I figured I do one of these because Beth just wrote another blog and is sitting right next to me.
There is a lot of training that still needs to be done before I am ready to compete. Namely, fast brick workouts. Tomorrow morning, I will have the second brick workout of the summer. I will make the 30 mile trip from Longmont to Fort Collins by bike and proceed to do a 4 mile run.  Last time I did this, I took a wrong turn and went 5 miles out of my way, but continued on and had an excellent run portion averaging about a 40 minute 10k pace for just a 3 mile run. This time I hope to do about the same, except to go the right way on my bike.
My goal for the race is to do the 750m swim in 14 minutes, the 13 mile bike in 35 minutes, my 5k run in 18:30, and about 1 minute for each transition. This will put me at a total time of 1 hour 9 minutes and 30 seconds.
The last time I did this race two years ago, I did it in 1:10:25 including a 2 minute penalty. However, the run was about .3 miles short and the bike will be a little longer this year.

It is now 20 days before the race.

The Brick workout two days ago went very well. I did the 29.8 mile trip from Longmont in 1:20:50 at an average pace of 22.1 mph. I then proceeded to run 4.37 miles in 28:04 in a pace of 6:25min/mile. It was a good estimation of my current abilities.

I did not do any training on Saturday as i got up really early and worked on my feet for a long time and was just too unmotivated to get out and exercise.

Today, I worked 8 hours and got up early, but I brought my swimming stuff so I could swim right after I got off.  The workout I did was posted on the whiteboard in the pool and was 2800yds.
WU - 200 swim, 200 kick, 200 pull
W/O - 4x300 - 75buildups @1min rest,
3x100 - 1. kick w/ face in water 2. fists 3. explosive wall push offs,
4x75 - 1,3 - 25 fast, 25 easy, 25 fast 2,4 - 25easy, 25 fast, 25 easy,
6x50 - Odds - fast, Evens - slow
CD - 100 swim 25 breast, 50 free, 25 breast

I felt tired during the warm up and through about the first one or two 300s, then I finally got warmed up a little and got a bit of a good workout in.

Scheduled for tomorrow - 20 mile bike, 4 mile run brick
I'll keep you updated!

To Beth

Beth,

You say I never tell you things like you wrote in a blog.
Well now, here is where your thought will be challenged.

I am in love with a girl named Beth
She has many great things about her
including:
She is very expressive.
She does not let any emotion go unnoticed whether it be good or bad.
She is very family oriented and cares about the most important people in her life.
Her smile is infectious.
She is goofy and always makes me laugh with her many funny faces.
She corrects me when I spell 'weird' wrong in a text.
She makes amazing baked goods.
She gets me a midnight bike ride for my birthday and Love Lottery scratch tickets for Valentine's Day.
She makes me feel like trying harder in life.
Her laugh is cute and giggly.
She is determined to do something once she sets her mind on it.
Her eyes twinkle like the stars.
She is very opinionated and will argue for what she believes.
Her smoothies are very good even though they could be a little less thick.
She has little toes that like to say hi occasionally.
She believes in me and helps me to do the same.
She makes me feel like I am needed.
She makes me feel like I am at home.
She makes me feel like I can reach my goals.
She thinks I will be a good personal trainer.
She makes me feel like I always want to have a training plan for her no matter what.
She makes me feel trusted because I can trust her.
She is beautiful and has a nice (insert part of body).
She makes me feel less competitive and tense and more competitive and tense at the same time.
She brings me chick-fil-a for dinner at work occasionally.
But most of all
She makes me feel loved.
And she is my best friend.
And that is what makes me in love with the most
beautiful, intelligent, expressive, and opinionated girl in the world.

Love,

Atomic Adam
